Tweaks to the Commute & a surprise
I got up bright and early this morning to ride my bike to work. It was one of the smoothest trips I’ve had so far. I guess that’s what experience gets you. Also I’m getting a better sense of how much time I really have to get to the bus stop. I get worried about missing the bus and having my 14 miles turn into 36 (which is a lot for me after working 8 hours.)
I made a couple of tweaks to my route. I found a bus stop to wait at that is actually in the shade. This improved my attitude a whole lot. I also started using a new route home that is one big long hill with a reasonable grade instead of 4 short steep hills. I got home feeling good and energetic. I read two chapters of my book on the bus and got 75 minutes of exercise for the day.
After dinner I went out to check my tire pressure & make sure the bike was ready for a trip in tomorrow. I discovered that the tire was completely flat yet again… just 2 hours after I got home. After having flat 1 and flat 2 so recently, flat 3 was a big surprise. I replaced the tube this time. If it happens again, I guess I will have to go to the bike shop & beg for advice.

Wow! Other than all the flats, this biking thing is really looking up! Sounds great!

@Darlene Yeah, it’s been going really great! I’ve got my fingers crossed that I can keep it up all week. I think I’m going to ride to the bike shop on lunch to pick up a new tube and ask for advice on replacing brake pads. I will probably break 200 miles for the year today.

You should do it. I’d love to hear about your trips. You’ve got gangs on your bus I’ve got Amish folks on mine.
Why no biking & bus today? Flat tires?
